With the 1505 Galway - Heuston (started at Ballinasloe) running neary 120 minutes late it crossed the 1745 Heuston - Westport in Geashill. This resulted in the 1750 Heuston - Galway service having to be recessed in the up loop at Portarlington for several minutes to allow the 1800 Heuston - Cork to over take and the 1630 Cork - Heuston and 1505 Galway - Heuston pass through on the up line. When the route was clear for the train to proceed onto the branch from the up loop it ran in to the station parallel with the 1805 Heuston - Portlaoise service. Here the two trains await departure from Portarlington. Tues 17.11.09 " /></a>
